there was a Fr. Hugh Lane, ordained at St. Johns June 2, 1844; served at St. Teresa's Newark, NJ, then St. Teresa's at NE corner of Broad & Catherine, Philadelphia.

#1 Is this photo of someone (Massey or Pickard?) who went to Colorado to make their fortune in the silver/ gold rush.

so the photo was made sometime after 1858? when little Sarah was born. Oh I guess I could check Pa & NJ 1860....

(and I was unable to determine if any of the Thomas Baker's found in the 1860 census were the same as the photographer of #3)

#5 The Right Rev. James F[rederick] Wood, D.D. Bishop of Philadelphia
Rev. Wood, born & died in Philadelphia (4/27/1813-6/20/1883) was made the 5th Bishop of Philadelphia, Jan. 5th, 1860 and elevated to Archbishop of Philadelphia Feb. 12, 1875. Therefore, this printed card was produced sometime between 1860 & 1875.

Photographer's full name: James R. Applegate
Date: between Aug 1864-Aug. 1866 (because of the Tax stamp on the back)

#9. Standing woman, striped dress.
Photographer: J[acob] K. Bottorf, Clearfield, PA.

The Raftsmans Journal, Clearfield, PA has many mentions of Jacob's establishment and his rheumatism problems, 1883-1885. According to the Directory of PA Photographers, 1839-1900, he was born c.1835. I do not know the dates he was a photographer in Clearfield, but he did leave his shop for New England in the fall of 1885.
